Do you need help with computer basics such as email, browsing the Web, creating a document, etc.? Columbia County Library is offering free, basic computer skills classes three different times in April. Library staff and volunteers will be available to assist participants in using basic use of a computer, using email, and browsing the Web. Participants will also be introduced to Northstar Digital Literacy Assessment, a series of self-guided training modules to teach patrons essential software skills, such as creating a letter or other document, and using technology in everyday life, such as social media. The Northstar program offers certification courses in Microsoft Word and Excel, and Google Docs. The library will provide computers for participants’ use or you are welcome to bring your own laptop. Class size is limited to three (3) people needing the library’s computers and six (6) participants with their own laptops for each of the two sessions.
