“Mother’s Love is the fuel that enables a Normal Human being to do the Impossible”

-Marrion C. Garretty

Before I became a mother, I can honestly say I had no idea how much my mother truly did for me. My mother, Mrs. Estasia Collins, is the strongest person I know! She is selfless, kind, and to top it off she is beautiful inside and out. I, being that normal human being, always strive to do “the impossible” because she makes me feel like I can conquer the world!

May is right around the corner, and just in case it’s not on your radar yet, Mother’s Day is Sunday May thirteenth. Here at the Dayton Memorial Library we have decided to do a special Mother’s Day STEAM project for you amazing ladies in town. Remember, a mother comes with different names: aunt, teacher, friend. We are painting birdhouses on Thursday May tenth, so come on by the Delany Building between the hours of one and four in the afternoon! We will have acrylic paint, feathers, fake flower petals, marbles, and lots of other fabulous items to decorate; and to top it off we will send you home with bird seed so you can start your bird watching as soon as possible.

Did you know that birds are attracted to bright colors, and certain species are more attracted to specific colors? For example, yellow attracts goldfinches, warblers and hummingbirds. There are many reasons that birds are attracted to bright colors, one being that Bright flowers are filled with nectar and will attract insects for another food source” (www.thespruce.com Melissa Mayntz 10/23/2017).

Some amazing books to come by and check out regarding this fascinating information are The Backyard Bird Feeder’s Bible , by Sally Roth, Attracting and Feeding Garden Birds, by Hermes House with Contributing editor Jen Green and Projects for the Birders Garden , Edited by Fern Marshall Bradley.
